In the Beginning

Quinquari Marine maps it origins back to 1986 when John Price, founder and continued owner established an international fisheries and marine consultancy. Qualified as a Fisheries Scientist and studying Naval Architecture and Engineering, John hailed from the rugged Pembrokeshire Coast. Through childhood he spent his days working on commercial fishing and pleasure craft. Returning from the Middle East he established commercial fishing operations and then diversified into the commercial passenger market. This proved to be the making of the company, taking it to its present level whereby it is now the UK's largest RHIB passenger carrier. All of the companies own RHIB's have been purchased from Humber Inflatables as a bare boat and then fitted out by Quinquari to suit its needs. As the passenger element of the business grew then so did the need for a company with dedicated premises for the fit out and maintenance of the increasing fleet of vessels. The obvious choice was for Quinquari to build its own marine workshops and employ its own trained personnel. In total the company now employs 25 persons. |
We do not profess to be a large company.
After all we produce no more that 30 bespoke vessels a year from the Humber Quinquari stable. The reason - we have neither need nor desire and prefer the family way of business and close relationship that we establish with our customers. After all what other company lets you call them at any time to discuss projects or problems.
For those wanting some assurances we turnover about £1.5m, have no debt and a decent potfolio of assets including other non associated companies. We are proud to say that these have all been developed from scratch and from nothing.
Our base in St Davids Pembrokeshire is set in the outstanding landscape of the Pembrokeshire National Park. It provides one of the most relaxing places to work but has its drawbacks. Firstly we are at the end of Wales so a little bit of a journey and then as we are in a conservation area we have to make the best of limited production facilities. However these are outweighed by our surroundings and the demanding coast in which we test vessels along with superb hospitalities.
On interesting point that has raised its head several times ..... we have had many multinational clients visit , tried our boats, aprreciated our sincerity , had a cup of coffee at our kitchen table and remarked that they would rather do business with us as they can identify with our ethos.
Then ..... QUINQUARI MARINE NORTH
Following the huge success of the Quinquari outfitting business it became clear that some expansion would be required to satisfy demand. This in itself caused a dilemma whereby if the business expanded then the close customer contact and family atmosphere would be lost and Quinquari would become a mass rather than a bespoke producer
The obvious choice was to establish a symmetrical operation in another geographical area and in stepped Tony Hill of Seafari Adventures. Tony had been a good friend of Quinquari since 1998 when he courted our expertise and set up the original Seafari Adventures. This business has expanded and now operates 3 RHIB's all year. Tony's expertise in RHIB operations is extensive and is back by his experience of fitting out his own commercial vessels. This was further enhanced by extensive training at Quinquari South base to ensure a harmonious product. For those living further North then for the first time is available a dedicated commercial supplier who also has operational experience.

AND
The production of vessels was originaly geared towards the tourist/seafari commercial operators. Now though the client base has a far wider spectrum and even though the comapny still has highly specialist skills in supporting the seafari operator the company is an important supplier to the Offshore Oil and windfarm, police and military markets. Further there has been a strong uptake in our bespoke builds for the race market.
